Frequently Annoying Questions (FAQ)
What's up with the name of the blog?
See this post.
What's "NaNoWriMo"?
It's cool-speak for National Novel Writing Month, and it happens every November. Check out the details here. You can see my spiffy author page here (note, however, that nowadays you have to be a member of the NaNoWriMo site to see anyone's profile -- it's free, so sign up!).
What does "spec-fic" mean?
It's short for "speculative fiction." It's a meta-category encompassing science fiction, fantasy, horror, and all combinations of those genres. It's often easier to call one's work spec-fic than to try to pigeon-hole it any further, particularly as the lines between the traditional genres become more and more blurry (especially after 2 AM).
What's a "Critter"?
I'm originally from Tennessee, so several years ago my answer to this question would have been, "Something you shoot at." Now, it's a participant in the premier online spec-fic writing group. I'm a Critter. He's a Critter, she's a Critter. Wouldn't you like to be a Critter, too?
