For most of my life, summer has been my favorite season of the year. It's generally comfortable outside, heatwaves notwithstanding, and most importantly, there are
plenty of daylight hours.
Now, though, it's fall. There are three reasons for the change.
First, I now live in Orlando, Florida. Fall brings perfect weather. It's when the rainy season ends, so I can ride my motorcycle on a regular basis again. We can spend most of our lives outside this time of year. Electricity bills drop. Goodness all around.
Second, it's when the
Epcot International Food and Wine Festival happens. This qualifies as my favorite Orlando event of the year, every year. For about six weeks every autumn, Disney sets up food kiosks throughout World Showcase in Epcot where one can buy appetizer-sized portions of foods from all over the world. Most of them aren't very daring or unusual, but they're almost all very good. The additional food choices, plus the free culinary demonstrations and wine tastings held every day, change the feel of Epcot (for the better) from late September to early November each year. And Party for the Senses is a can't-miss evening; it's like my Christmas. The last day of this year's Festival is, sadly, today. Time to put away my water bottle and collapsible fork for another eleven months or so.
Finally, of course, fall brings NaNoWriMo, which I've really come to look forward to doing. I enjoy the challenge, and I crave the opportunity to create. We're less than a third of the way through this particular celebration, and I'm just now hitting my stride. So back to the race...
