We had to set our clocks back one hour here in the US last night. That means the darkness takes over one hour earlier every day.
I believe I have a mild form of
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Not as bad as some people I've known -- one of whom had to bring a big fluorescent light in to work for his cubicle -- but I do seem to have less energy during the winter. Once twilight passes, my body seems to start shutting down for the night. So I always dread the end of
Daylight Saving Time.
Anyway, I'm pressing on with my novel. I got a lot of words down on the first day (well over 2500), thanks in large part to the efforts of our NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaisons during the meet-up yesterday, who made us write during periodic half-hour sessions, so we wouldn't spend the
whole time chatting with one another. We did plenty of the latter, too, of course, and it was a nice change for me from last year to be more involved in the community.
Next Orlando regional meeting is Tuesday night, and I'm going to try to show up there and do some good writing. Maybe being among other NaNoers will keep me from feeling SAD as the night closes in...
P.S. I've linked my word count monitor on the upper left of this page to the one on the NaNoWriMo site, just so it's easier for me to update. Only problem is that nanowrimo.org is terribly slow throughout November, and particularly during the first week, so I'm worried the dependency might slow my own site down. Faithful Reader, please drop me a line or leave a comment if you find that it does.
